Objective: To map, in scientific literature, the aspects related to patient safety associated with the preoperative nursing visits. Method: A scoping review was conducted following the Joanna Briggs Institute model and the PRISMA Extension for Scoping Reviews guidelines. Searches were conducted in August 2025 across eight databases, and the gray literature was searched by screening the references of the articles included in this review and searching the Google Scholar. The analysis was descriptive in nature and presented using figures and tables. Results: A total of 1,123 articles were identified, of which 12 (100%) were included. Most of the publications consisted of literature reviews (6; 50%), descriptive exploratory studies (3; 25%), and experimental studies (3; 25%). The main outcomes identified were the quality of communication and the patient-nurse relationship, the identification of potential safety issues, and pre- and postoperative anxiety. Conclusion: The findings showed that the preoperative nursing visit is a relevant tool for ensuring the safety of surgical patients. The main outcomes include early recognition of problems, patient-nurse communication and interaction, reductions in levels of anxiety and stress, increased patient well-being, and emotional support.
